Q&A with Daymon

Q: What is Brand Design?

A:
My practice has evolved into a field I call Brand Design: developing a client's core brand assets (values, personality, behavior, voice, look & feel, etc.) and then activating these into design solutions that create deeper brand equity & market value.

Q: What led you to Design?
A: I was studying film at UCLA and switched to the Design program. I became more interested in communicating concepts than telling stories in the longer form of film.

Q: What provides ongoing inspiration?
A: I get inspired by solving challenging problems. Finding a solution or a really good idea for a difficult communication problem keeps me going. So do restrictions and success.

Q: What are you most proud of?
A: When I traded giving creative direction to others for doing my own work, I rediscovered my passion for design. I’m now much better at both because of that shift.

Q: Any recent accomplishments?
A: Recently swam in the open waters of Cape Cod for a fund-raising event, where a week before, Great Whites were seen hunting. I finished and didn’t get eaten. Hoorah!
